Dear Members and Colleagues,

I am honored to serve as President of the Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology (KAOMI).

Since its founding in April 1994, KAOMI has been dedicated to advancing the science of dental implantology and improving clinical practice. Thanks to the dedication of our past presidents, leadership, and members, the Academy has grown into one of the leading academies in Korea.

Over the years, KAOMI has continued to grow and adapt, strengthening its role through change and challenge. In recognition of its contributions, the Academy was recognized by the government as an incorporated association and designated as a charitable organization in 2011. In 2013, it was formally accredited by the Korean Dental Association. Today, KAOMI represents more than 3,000 dentists and stands as one of the largest dental implant academies in Korea.

KAOMI has also made steady progress. Our annual congress continues to expand in both scope and depth, while the International Academic Meeting of Osseointegration (iAO) provides an important global platform to showcase the strength of Korean implant research and clinical expertise.

Through our membership certification system and structured educational programs, we continue to cultivate highly skilled professionals in implant dentistry. The publication of educational materials and textbooks for dentists and dental hygienists has further strengthened our academic foundation.

Our official journal is indexed by the Korea Research Foundation, and we are steadily working toward its development into a leading international publication.

KAOMI’s journey reflects not only growth in scale, but also a deep commitment to academic integrity, ethical responsibility, and a strong sense of community.

Our vision is to become a global leader in implant dentistry grounded in bioethics. To achieve this, we will focus on three key priorities: strengthening trust within the dental community, advancing research that directly benefits clinical practice, and building a solid foundation for sustainable growth.

KAOMI brings together diverse expertise, generations, and clinical experience. Building on this strength, we will continue to foster open and thoughtful dialogue and respond to the evolving needs of our profession.

In an era of rapid change in healthcare and technology, KAOMI remains committed to advancing science, education, clinical excellence, and ethical standards in balance. Through these efforts, we aim to serve as a trusted leader in the global dental community.
